Route 66

My father is an inventor, so while growing up, I was always surrounded by interesting and eccentric things. It was a "maker" type of atmosphere. I grew up wanting to be a fashion designer. However, when I was in my first year of fashion design at Texas Tech I realized I really hated sewing, and I didn’t want to risk ending up with that as my career. One of my drawing professors suggested graphic design to me because of my artistic style and after looking further into it, I switched my major that day. I’m now the art director for a brand strategy shop in Houston. We’re small but talented, and we just finished building a community engagement campaign for First Lady Michelle Obama last year. In regards to my inspiration for design style, I often find it in my travels. My friends and I often take road trips on the weekends since we’re into exploring and visiting mid-century roadside attractions. It has really inspired the design of my house, which is decorated with a lot of vintage Americana and Route 66-inspired decor.
